This native of Martinique left her island after finishing her A-levels. She would earn a master’s degree in foreign civilisations and literature from the Sorbonne and also attended the Cours Florent actors’ studio, after which the actress performed in plays and a variety of roles in both film and television. She then became an author-director and now produces, writes and directs feature films and shorts, many of which are award winners.
Cécile Vernant is currently developing two feature films, including one that benefits from a grant from the Beaumarchais Foundation 2008.
