Biography:

As a former Communist activist, governmental official, attorney, and candidate in numerous elections, Georges E. Mauvois*, who has lived through much of the 20th century, proposes snapshots of Martinican society, in particular through his tales, testimonials, narratives and plays, some even written late in life (he wrote his first theatrical text in 1966). His writings are dedicated to the memory of illustrious figures like André Aliker and Georges Gratiant, and include translations of two major works from the European repertoire and by Brazilian playwright Ariano Suassuna.
