Jean-Marc Monnerville, alias Kali, began his career in 1981with the group Sixième Continent, at the time creating shock waves on the music scene by inventing the Gaeka rhythm, a mix of reggae and gwoka. Kali is passionate about Caribbean music which he knows like the back of his hand. With the ambition to preserve and enhance this heritage, he has devoted his five albums to traditional melodies featuring his own arrangements. His work has enabled many Caribbeans to discover this aspect of regional culture, particularly in Martinique.
