She has practiced vocals since childhood, beginning with her brothers in their church choir in Pointe-Ã -Pitre. After training for the acting profession, she was given her first opportunity in 1979 in Germany, playing roles from the classic repertoire (including Helen of Troy) which she interpreted entirely in German.
